3 Months!!

Nora is 3 months old today and she:

Is growing like crazy!
Has the most beautiful eyes...ever!
Is sleeping like a champ- Tuesday night she slept from 9pm to 8:30am! (Typically 10 hours though)
Loves to smile and 'talk' to us. She has the sweetest voice :)
Is crazy about her brother and he's pretty crazy about her!
Likes to suck on her hand, but is getting the hang of a pacifier.
Isn't showing too much interest in rolling over.
Is starting to show interest in toys and rattles and will hold things when placed in her hands.
Is eating every 3-4 hours during the day, unless she is napping really well!
Has found her tongue...and likes to stick it out.
Is ticklish on her neck and even laughs when we tickle her!
Still loves bath time.
Is such a blessing to our family!!

Yep, that's right! This morning we took the diapers away and brought out the Mickey Mouse, Cars and Italian (thanks mom and dad) underpants. We have been mentally preparing ourselves for a while and decided now was the time. He has done awesome! Before today, he had never told us that he had to go #1, let alone actually go. He has told us everytime and has gone everytime today! I won't get into the details but #2 is going just as well! Aside from the excitement of the new big boy underpants, he gets a sticker for his potty chart and 2 M&M's when he goes. We even made it through naptime with no accidents! I know...we're only on day 1, but I'm feeling good about where we stand!

Sorry for the lack of posts...we're still here! Just not a lot going on, I guess. Anyway, I've gone through some pictures from the last week or so and picked some to share. Have a great week!

Ethan loves to play baseball...in the house. This is our compromise. He gets a cup as a bat, and the ball is soft. He's getting pretty good with the 'batting'.

Well, it seems that winter has found us. It's currently 17 degrees with blowing snow. We are inside! Anyway, on Monday, Abby came up to hang out with us and we had a good time just hanging out around the house. She and Ethan have quite a special bond right now. (When asked who his best friend is, he answers Abby!) They played a lot downstairs. According to Ethan, they played hockey, golf and yoga...

One more blog-worthy photo... I got a bird feeder and hook for Christmas. It is squirrel 'proof', but that doesn't mean they won't give it a go. I'm also afraid that it is cardinal proof too, they just can't figure it out. Someday, hopefully.

To the Park in January!

It's not that often the weather is nice enough around here in January to play outside...but today I think we topped out around 61 degrees and sunny! We just couldn't resist a trip to the park. The park we go to has a pond with lots of sidewalks along with a playground. We took Ethan's bike and Nora's stroller and had a great walk/ride around before finding some slides to go down. This park is so pretty...I think we'll have to try a photo shoot there in the summer!

Bittersweet Goodbye

One of my best friends, Elizabeth (find here blog here) has, temporarily, moved back to Salem. Actually, she has moved into one of her childhood homes. One that I used to walk through the woods, across the street and through the field (or backyard...it seemed like a field at the age of 6) to get to. We have a lot of fun memories from that house, so it was really great to visit with her there. She and her adorable family will be heading overseas to spread the Gospel of Jesus to the Middle East. While it is hard to say goodbye, not knowing when we will see each other again, it is awesome to know that she and her family are obediently following our God!

More Christmas Vacation!

We spent about 2 weeks in Salem around Christmas. (With a trip back home, here and there.) Since Abby and Alex, along with some of our cousins were in town, we decided to stay and hang out. Poor Jared had to come back and work some though :(. Anyway, we had a great time. Ethan and all the other kiddos get along pretty well (most of the time), and they enjoyed having other little people to play with. Enjoy some pictures of our time with family!

The 3rd annual 'Rob Your Neighbor' gift exchange was a big hit again. It didn't get too vicious this year, but there was some stealing going on. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the kids upstairs. We were in the basement and left all of the kids (for a while, at least) upstairs with popcorn and a movie. It was pretty cute to see 11 kids in the living room watching Tangled. There were 14 in all, counting the babies who hung with their mama's.

Merry Christmas: Part 1

Our Christmas weekend didn't turn out exactly as planned, but we had a great one. We had planned on staying at home and then heading down to Salem on Christmas day, but we were here earlier in the week. Jared's uncle David passed away and we were here for the services and it didn't make sense to drive back and forth. No worries...Santa found us here in SoIL.
We started our gift opening on Christmas eve at Jared's parents house. We had a great meal and an overall great day.

After our day at the Collier's we headed back into town to get ready for the Christmas Eve Service at church. I have gone to Christmas Eve service for as long as I can remember. There is just something amazing about gathering together and remembering the real reason we are all together!

Nora was 2 months old yesterday. And these last 2 months have flown by!

She has started smiling and 'talking'. I love talking to her and watching her smile back. A few things about our Nora:

She's a healthy girl! She had her 2 mo check-up today where she got 3 shots and an oral vaccine (poor girl). She weighs 13 lbs (95%) and is 24 in long (97%).
She would much rather lay and look at you (when awake) than be held.
She is sleeping great! The last week, she has been consistent at 8 hours or so at night. 11pm to 7am, generally.
She enjoyed her 1st Christmas, even if she was unaware :).
She still has her umbilical hernia, and the doctors aren't at all concerned, so I'm not either! It's just a part of her.
She is eating great- about every 3 to 4 hours during the day.
Her eyes are dark blue and hair is light brown, though there is still time for both to change colors.
Her big brother, Ethan, loves her and I love to hear him talking to her. It's so funny.

Neighborhood Christmas

Since moving, we have really missed our neighbors. I knew we would, but we still try to get together as often as possible. We had our annual 'Neighborhood' Christmas get together (even if we aren't in the neighborhood anymore). Eric and Heather were wonderful hosts, as usual, and we had a great time. Ethan and Braden were running and playing like crazy boys and Zach joined in on it too! While us adults enjoyed chatting and catching up (with a little Nora cuddling on the side). It's so nice to have great friends to spend time with! Merry Christmas 'neighbors'!

Finger Painting!

Here in Mt. Zion, we have this great little ceramics shop called Next of Kiln. There are all kinds of projects to paint from bowls, plates and pitchers to seasonal decorations and jewlery boxes. I've painted a few projects there and always have a great time.
Anyway...Arika, Ethan's sitter from the time he was born, is getting ready to move to Alabama. I'm super sad about this and I know Ethan will be too (when he figures out what is going on). He has 2 other friends that go to Arika as well, Braden and Noah. Us moms decided we wanted to get something for Arika for her to remember the boys by. So, we went to Next of Kiln. They do lots of finger/hand/foot print things and had a great idea. The boys had a good time getting their hands dirty and I think Arika will really like her little piece of them.

Weekend

Jared took Friday off and we headed to Salem for the weekend, our first trip since Nora was born. It was a nice long weekend and we saw lots of family.
Jared's family has had a LONG week. He had 2 uncles in the same ICUwith non-related issues. His Uncle David Collier is still very critical in Mt. Vernon with multiple system failures but showing signs of improvement. And his Uncle Edwin Phillips was taken to the hospital last week after suffering a major heart attack. He has since had open heart surgery and is home recovering. Thanks to lots and lots of prayers. More prayers are needed for David and Ed's recovery at home.
Anyway, we had planned this trip to Salem before any of this happened, so it was good to be able to be there, see family and show our support. So, Friday afternoon, we went to the hospital. It was Nora's first introduction to most of the Collier clan and they were happy to meet her. Ethan had fun in the waiting room playing with some of the cousins.

Christmas Fun

It's been almost 2 weeks since my last post...sorry about that. We've been busy with lots of fun Christmas-type things...

I realized after my last post, I didn't put a picture of Ethan's final project. Here is his baked Santa.

I LOVE decorating our house for Christmas! It's my favorite time of year. I've had fun decorating this year in our new home (and I haven't even bought too many new things)!

Today, Ethan and I worked on a little Christmas craft. It's one of those bead, suncatcher things that you have to bake. Anyway, he was so excited about it. I asked if he wanted to keep it or give it away. He said he wanted to give it to Santa.

30 Months

That's 2 1/2 years, just in case you need help with the math! That's also how old Ethan was on Monday. Since bringing Nora home, Ethan has looked SO big! He is also independent, smart and funny. Sometimes I can't believe the things that come out of his mouth. I love to listen to him talk. We actually have real conversations. Aside from the whining episodes that (I hope) all 2 year olds display, this kid is the sweetest. He loves to show us his affection with hugs and kisses. He is an awesome big brother. He still would rather be outside than anywhere else. He is his daddy's boy. Every night when Jared comes home from work, he yells 'Daddy' and runs to the door. He is into just about anything that involves a ball and is starting to show more interest in cars and trains. I guess he's just a typical boy! He has been sleeping in his big boy bed for almost 4 months now and loves it. I'm not sure how many times he gets up during nap or before falling asleep at night, but he's always asleep when we come in to check on him. The last two and a half years have flown by and we aren't sure what we did before then. We love you Ethan James!

Baby Dedication

Sunday was the baby dedication service at our church and we chose to participate with Nora. My parents, as well as Jared's came back up on Sunday afternoon to be involved. It was a very nice service and definitely gave Jared and I something to think about. We were given 'homework' to complete prior to the service and part of it was to 'Imagine the End', 18 years from now. It brings me to tears just about every time I think about it! 18 years from now?!? Really? My baby is only 5 weeks old! But it was a very good exercise for us. It was basically calling us to imagine the person/young woman we want Nora to become. It's easier to make it on a daily basis when you have a target or goal to focus on. It all boils down to, us wanting our daughter (and son) to know Jesus Christ and have a relationship with Him. Whatever we do while raising our children needs to point them in that direction. Period. As a gift from our chruch to the families who participated, we all got free family photos taken by a professional photographer. He also took a 'class' photo of all the babies who were dedicated that day. It was a great afternoon and one that will be rememberd.

Happy Thanksgiving...

I'm a little late, I know. We hosted our families here for Thanksgiving this year. And I must say, it was nice not traveling. We had a lot of great help, so I wasn't stressed in the least! Jared and I decided we were not going to do the traditional Thanksgiving meal, so we opted for some delicious pork loin! Jared researched quite a bit for some pork marinade recipes and his turned out great. I made an appetizer, pumpkin cheesecake and helped with the twice baked potatoes; the rest of the meal came with our guests. We had my mom and dad, Abby and Alex, Jared's mom (his dad had to work) and Dustin and Amanda. I forgot to take a picture of the spread, but it was all wonderful and we have delicious left overs to finish up. Here are a few pictures from our day.

One Month

Nora is 1 month old today! And it has been one of the fastest and slowest months all rolled into one...if that makes sense. Anyway, she is such a sweet baby and a blessing to our family.
A few noteworthy things about our Nora at 1 month:
* Sleeping... She generally wakes up once during the night somewhere between 3 and 4:30 am. Which gives us 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep!
* Eating... Other than at night, she is pretty consistant at every 3 hours.
* She is starting to stay happily awake for longer and longer at a time (which I love!)
* She makes adorable faces, one in particular I call the 'Zoolander' (see below)
* The girl likes to poop (sorry if this is TMI). I don't think I've ever been pooped on as much as I have in the last month!
* She loves her brother. (And he loves her). He will sit by her bouncy seat and talk to her and 'pet' her head.
* According to our scale, she weighs approximately 11.5 lbs.

My brother, Jim, and his family came to Salem yesterday for a couple days and they still haden't met Nora. Since we are hosting Thanksgiving at our house on Friday we weren't planning on a trip to Salem. Then, work schedules interfered and they were not going to be able to make it here for Thanksgiving, so I decided to make a day trip to Salem. Ethan had fun playing with Josiah and everyone was able to meet Nora. It was a quick trip and a long day, but worth it. I didn't take enough pictures, as usual. I wanted one of Paige and Nora, since Paige has been asking for a baby sister :). I'm pretty sure Nora is as close as she is going to get!

Christmastime!

I know, I know, we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet. But Saturday night was the Christmas Lights Parade in downtown Decatur. And we went. But I have not started decorating our house yet...but I'm ready to! It wasn't too cold (a bit windy) and Ethan had a good time. Nora did what she does...slept.

Santa's Reindeer were even there. I couldn't get a decent picture of Ethan with them.

As I was laying in bed this morning with both, Ethan and Nora, I couldn't help but think about how blessed we are! So...I thought I would share a few pictures of our 2 little blessings from the past few days.

Look closely and notice the remote in his hand. He turned the TV on in our bedroom, found the golf channel, and was happily watching The President's Cup when I came in to see what he was doing.

Morning at the Park!

It is November 14 and it was 70 degrees this morning! Aside from the wind, it was beautiful so we decided to head to the park. Side note...this was my first time leaving the house with both kids alone, and we all made it home safely! We played on the playground, explored the area and looked at the water fountain or water 'mountain' as Ethan would say!

Grandma Karen and Grandpa had the day off on Friday, so they, along with Uncle Dustin and Amanda headed up to spend some time with Ethan and Nora. We were happy to have them. Ethan loves the extra attention and people to play with!

2 Weeks and 2 and a Half Years

Nora is 2 weeks old today! And Ethan is (almost) 2 1/2 years old. Where did those last 2 years go?!? Anyway, they both had doctor's appointments today and did great.

A Little Sleeping Looking Here...

Nora weighed in at a whopping 8 lbs 12 oz. That's over a pound more than when she was born (she was 7, 11)! The doctor was impressed and happy with her progress. She is eating and sleeping well and I don't think I could ask for more out of our sweet 2 week old!

Ornery 2.5 year old

Ethan is also doing great. Weighing in at 28 lbs and is 2 ft. 11 in tall. He got 2 shots today and was a trooper. He was rewarded with 2 stickers and 2 suckers before we left the office. The good news is, he won't have any more shots until he goes to kindergarten! He keeps telling me that the band-aid on his leg is feeling better. Such a funny kid. I love to hear the things that come out of his mouth.

Week in Review

I realize that it's been a whole week since I last posted. We've been busy just staying around the house. We are all getting settled and adjusting well to having Nora home. Ethan loves his baby sister. He likes to look at her toes and pet her head. On Saturday night we made our first trip to church as a family of 4. Nora did great...she slept the whole time and Ethan, as always, had a good time in his class.

On Monday afternoon, my mom came up to spend a couple days. She left today :(. It was so great having her here. Jared decided to get sick on Monday night, so it was especially nice to have my mom here to help out. (He's better now after spending most of Tuesday in bed). She says she didn't help out much, but I disagree! She was great at occupying Ethan, holding/cuddling with Nora and doing laundry. Thanks so much for coming mom! It was fun!

Nora is 1 week old today! Yesterday, during naptime we had a little photoshoot. I am by no means a photographer, but I think I got a couple decent ones. We had a real photoshoot today (with a real photographer) and I can't wait to see the pictures. Until then, these will have to do!

Yesterday we watched Ethan's friend, Braden. The two boys get along so well...most of the time and just enjoy being together. Jared is still home so he was a great entertainer for the boys and we all had a good time.

I was a little unsure how naptime was going to go, but as you can see...success! We were going to nap them in separate rooms, but Braden wanted to be with Ethan so there they are, and asleep.

The past couple days have been beautiful, so after nap we headed out to the backyard for some fun. Jared was great with the boys...up and down the treehouse and slides, playing baseball and golf and any other outside games they could find.

Trick or Treat was last night in the good 'ole Village of Mt. Zion, so we suited up and headed out. Ethan was definitely getting the hang of it after just a few houses. He started noticing which houses didn't have lights on, and decided that they didn't have any candy left. We started our night by walking around the circle in our new neighborhood. Ethan got quite a haul. Then, after a dinner intermission, we drove back to the old neighborhood to see the Neighbors. Ethan loves going to their house and they were excited to meet Nora (who didn't seem impressed with her first Halloween).

Nora had her first doctor's appointment this morning. She and I headed out while Jared and Ethan stayed home to play. The doctor was very happy with Nora's progress and weight gain. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz at birth and 7 lbs 2 oz when we left the hospital on Friday. This morning, she weighed in at 7 lbs 8 oz (50th percentile) and still 20.5 in long (90th percentile). We go back next week for a follow-up for Nora and Ethan's 2 1/2 year checkup.

After we got home from the doctor's office, lunch was approaching. I've been craving some Mexican and it's beautiful out so we decided to head out for lunch. Nora slept the whole time and Ethan enjoyed his chips & sauce and taco.

1st Few Days at Home

We've been home now for 3 days and we're doing great. Nora is adjusting to her new home and Ethan is adjusting to his new baby sister. He is also really enjoying having Daddy home (we all are)!
A few things about our 5 day old Nora...
She likes to eat! She is eating every 2-3 hours during the day and does great at night eating every 3-4 hours.
She is gradually staying awake during the day more often. I love to see her eyes!
She is growing like crazy already. We had her first doctor appt this morning (more on that later)
Her brother likes to 'Say Hi' to her and 'pet' her on the head. She doesn't mind :).
She hates having her diaper and clothes changed (not that I blame her)
She is so sweet and makes us feel so blessed every time we look at her!

Birthday Celebrations

Nora Diane arrived this morning at 11:58. When the dr came in, she assured me that this was going to be an AM baby. And around 11:50, I told her that she had better hurry and we made it! Nora is perfect. She is so sweet and, call me biased, beautiful! I think she may already be wrapped around her Daddy's finger. Who now shares his birthday with her. Happy birthday to you both! She weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz and 20.5 in long. And has beautiful brown hair.
Grandma Terri, Grandma Karen and Abby all came to visit this afternoon along with Ethan. He wasn't too sure what to think at first but eventually warmed up to his baby sister. Enjoy a few pictures from Jared and Nora's birthday!

Well...it's been almost two and a half years without 1 trip to the ER. Tonight we broke that streak and took Ethan in. I was in the kitchen, he was in the living room and all of a sudden I hear a thud and then screaming. I came in and he was holding his chin. I got him in the the kitchen and saw blood and upon further inspection found a cut on the inside of his lower lip as well as one on the outside. I thought he had bit through his lip. After I got him cleaned up and calmed down, I called the doc and was told to just take him straight into the ER. Jared met us there and surprisingly we were seen by a doctor within 45 minutes or so of our arrival. It was not a through and through cut, but did warrant some derma-bond (aka: glue) and steri-strips. He did awesome. He never whined, cried or even flinched the whole time. I don't know if this makes me a good mom or not...but I had to snap a few pictures while at the hospital.

We had planned on going to the Tate and Lyle night of Boo at the Zoo tonight, but wasn't sure we were going to make it with the unexpected ER trip. Since it didn't take as long as we thought, and Ethan was in such great spirits, we decided to head to the zoo. We ate a delicious dinner (hot dogs, chili and mac & cheese) and then quickly made it through all the Trick or Treat stations, rode the train and the carousel. It was a fun night...after all was said and done.

We carved our pumpkins tonight! This was the first year for Ethan to have a carved pumpkin. He enjoyed helping and picked out his own pattern. I decided that Ethan and I would make a trip to the Okaw Valley Orchard this morning. It was a little chilly, but the sun was shining and I have a feeling we won't be getting out to do a lot for a while. We have been to this orchard before and I knew they had a nice playground area, so I thought that would be a fun outing for Ethan. First we picked out our apples (from the store...not the orchard), then had a nice apple snack (apple doughnut and pastry) and then headed outside to play for a while. It was a fun morning and I'm glad we were able to spend some one on one time together before baby sister arrives.

This morning we decided to take advantage of this beautiful fall day and went to an awesome pumpkin patch. This was our 2nd time going to this patch (click here for last year's post) and we hope to make it an annual thing. We picked our own pumpkins, went through 2 hay bale mazes, looked at all the animals, had some delicious cider and pumpkin treats and just enjoyed the beautiful fall day and scenery.

A Kentucky Wedding

As I mentioned it a previous post, we had a wedding to attend this past weekend in Kentucky. One of my best friends from high school was getting married. Jennifer was a beautiful bride and the day was perfect! Jared and I met 2 of my other best friends from forever (and their husbands) for lunch before the wedding. Sara & Jason and Elizabeth & Hap are such great friends and it's always a good time when we get together, which isn't as often as we would all like. We had lunch at Patti's, which happens to be a Kentucky landmark and is delicious! Two words...Pork Chop! I recommend a visit if you're ever in the Paducah area. Let me appologize for my lack of blog posts lately. Moving to a new house will keep you busy! I have had a lot of people ask about new house pictures and I have a few of Ethan's room and also some of him just playing. I'm still working on getting the house the way I want it. I know this will take time, and I'm not very patient! So, I'll get more pictures up here soon. Anyway, here are the few that I have...Enjoy!

We've Moved!

As mentioned earlier, we closed on our new house on Friday. Since then, we have been busy busy moving, cleaning, moving more and trying to unpack. We had a lot of great help and I can't thank everyone involved enough. Thank- you, thank-you! We are very excited to be in our new house, but didn't leave the old one without some sentiment. It was hard to leave our first home as a family. Jared and I put in a lot of work at that house and was hard to say goodbye. (I might be a tad more emotional than usual due to hormones...but maybe not too). I didn't take a lot of moving pictures, but I'll share what I have. And when things are more in order, I will post a little photo tour of our new place.

35 Weeks

Friday marked 35 weeks! It's pretty crazy to think that we only have 5 weeks until baby girl is due. And we have a lot of work to do before she arrives! Not only was Friday 35 weeks for baby girl but we also closed on our old house and 1 hour later, closed on our new house. More to come on closing/moving. In the mean time, here we are at 35 weeks.

This morning was an annual race here in Decatur. They have a 50 yard Tot Trot race for 5 and under, so we signed Ethan up. Sorry for the lack of blog posts this past week...there really hasn't been much 'blog-worthy' to report. We've been packing and packing getting ready for the move, which is 2 weeks from today! It's a lot of work and we're a little sad to be leaving our neighbors and our first home, but we're also excited about this new chapter beginning for us. Here are a few packing pictures from today. 'Labor' Day Weekend

Labor day weekend has been full of labor for us! Saturday morning we got up and went to Salem. Our primary reason to go was to pick up some things we have stored at my parents that we are wanting to move to our new house. We ended up helping my dad refinish a table for our new kitchen! I'm glad we were able to help him out, because it was a lot of work! Here's our inspiration...

We/dad still has to polyurethane ours, so I don't have a real after photo, but I will definitely post one when it's in the house! But here's where we are so far...with some work pictures in between.

We left Sunday evening and Ethan stayed behind for a couple extra days with the grandparents. I'm sure he is having a great time! We've gotten a lot done and even had time for a dinner date last night (at the Firefly in Effingham- highly recommend!) and a movie tonight (The Help- also recommended!).

Progress!!

I've been promising progress pictures on baby girl's bedding. Well...there has finally been some progress! Until yesterday this, was all the progress I had made...

I've had this for, oh probably, 3 months!

I made these a while ago also. The bigger one was made before I even knew I was pregnant! Little did I know, I was picking fabric for my baby girl's nursery.

Anyway, yesterday morning Ethan and I made a quick trip to my parent's house to put my mom to work! She had agreed to help me out and I worked her hard (and right through naptime)! We started with bumper pads, and we got a lot done in a day and a half! I found the tutorial/photos here. The instructions were fairly easy to follow, if you (or someone you are working with) has a decent knowledge of sewing and sewing terms. We had to order the pads to go inside, so actual completion will be delayed a bit. But this is what we have so far! (There are 6 of these)

A Perfect Day!

We had a great day today! The weather was perfect and the company was perfect. This morning we headed to Lake Shelbyville where the Maxey family was camping for some swimming and beach fun. Braden and Ethan had a blast and us adults had a great time too.

Then it was back to the house for some dinner.

Ethan & I met our friends, Heather & Braden and Angie & Noah for a play date this morning. We started out at the playground in front of the zoo for some climbing, swinging and sliding. They when the zoo opened we were the first in line to get in. The boys had a great time running everywhere and seeing all the animals, not to mention a carousel and a train ride.

My cousin, Libby, had baby girl #2, Katie Sue last Wednesday so we headed down to St. Louis last night to meet her and see the rest of the Mehrle family. My parents happened to be in Fairview Heights around the time we were coming through so we met them for dinner.

30 Weeks

Yesterday marked 30 weeks of pregnancy for baby girl! I can't believe there are only 10 weeks left. We are soooo excited, but also a little stressed thinking of all the things between now and October 28 that will (and need to) happen! Like packing up our entire house and moving! I also need to get working on that crib bedding I mentioned a few posts back. Anyway, here we are...growing and growing!

30 Weeks

I also had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Apparently baby girl is sitting with her head in my ribs and her feet kicking me in the bladder...not the correct position. The doctor didn't seem too concerned since there is plenty of time for her to flip. I'm also still measuring smaller (yay!) at 26 weeks. We have our next and last ultrasound a week from Tuesday and I can't wait to see her again! I'll be sure to update after my ultrasound!

Yesterday we helped celebrate with Ethan's friend, Noah. He turned 2 and had a great pool party. Ethan and Noah go to the same sitters and we go to church with Noah and his family. It was a good time with great friends.

We've had a fun and busy weekend around here. On Thursday evening, my mom and Abby came up. Mom stayed for dinner and a tour of our new house and then headed home and Abby stayed a couple days.

Then on Saturday, we headed over to Springfield to the Illinois State Fair. The weather was really nice, so we spent the morning looking at the animals, checking out the sights and deciding what to eat for lunch! Ethan had a great time and liked the goats the most, I think.

Exciting News!

So...I didn't post anything earlier about us putting our house on the market because it just happened last week and things have been pretty crazy. Anyway, we have been browsing the house listings for a while now and found one we really liked. So, we thought we would see how our house did and put it on the market last Wednesday. Fast-forward a week...and we have an offer on our house and have put an offer in on another house! I currently have mixed emotions about all this, but we can blame that on the pregnancy. I'm really excited about our new house but also I'm really going to miss being here. Anyway, I 'stole' a few pictures from the website where our house is listed since they are better than any I could take.

Our tentative closing date is September 23, which also happens to be Abby's 22nd Birthday. I think she will get to spend her birthday with us!

Grandma Karen came up today to spend the morning with us. Our weather was absolutely beautiful! We decided to head to the good 'ole Decatur Zoo. Ethan loves to look at the animals and loves riding the train even more.

28 Weeks and Big Boy Bed!

This has been a mile-stone kind of weekend around here. First, on Friday, I entered my 3rd trimester of Baby Girl's pregnancy. It seems a little crazy that in just 12 short weeks (or less) we will have a daughter! All is going well and I'm feeling really good. My mom and I will be making bedding for her crib and nursery...I guess we should be getting on that! I'll be sure to post some pictures of our progress, when there is some. Here we are at 28 weeks (and 2 days).

And on Saturday morning, we decided to convert Ethan's bed into a toddler bed. We plan on using his crib for the baby and thought it would be a good idea to give him some time to get used to his 'freedom' before a real change sets in. After he figured out what we meant by 'big boy bed' he was sooooo excited!

Weddings always bring a lot of family, so we took advantage and had a family brunch on Sunday. The food was great and the entertainment (all the kids) were hilarious! It's always fun to get together and see all the little ones playing...or fighting.

Wedding Day!!

July 30th came and we had a wedding! Abby and Alex's wedding! It seems like we have been waiting and working for this day forever and it finally came. Everything went just as smooth as possible. Abby had planned an outdoor wedding knowing that weather could definitely be an issue. Saturday morning and up until about 3:30 was fine, a bit overcast, but nice. And then came the rain...after everything was set up, pictures had started and the window for the 'back-up plan' had come and gone. Finally, after lots of radar looking, praying and stress we decided to wait it out. This was the right decision, the wedding was only delayed about 30-45 minutes and Abby and Alex had their dream day! It was beautiful! The setting, the flowers and most importantly, the bride! It was difficult being in the wedding and trying to get pictures of everything, so I'll share what I've got!

Last night we had a 'personal' shower for Abby, who is getting married on Saturday! We had a great time and laughed a lot!! Possibly even a blushing bride (and bride's mother) from time to time. We had a wonderful dinner at The Gathering Place in Salem with a vintage-y theme. (I would recommend this place to anyone needing a great venue with great food!) Anyway, on to the pictures!

Visit to Indy

Wednesday morning Ethan and I got up and headed to Indy to visit my good friend Elizabeth and her 2 boys, Sam and Andrew. We had a great trip! The Children's Museum was definitely a must see, so we went there pretty much as soon as Ethan and I got into town. Elizabeth has a membership which was beneficial for us, since it allowed 2 guests! It was also nice going with someone who knows where things are and what things are good for the 4 and under crowd. First stop: Dora the Explorer!

Then we headed to Playscape. This area was really good for toddlers since there were all kinds of things to climb on, push around, scoop up and dump out.

We had a great time at the museum and will definitely plan a trip back. We closed the place down and the boys still weren't ready to go.

A trip to the zoo had also been discussed for this visit, but since it was 105 out we opted for the pool! This pool is close to the Jolliff's house and they go often, it was perfect for the boys. Plenty of shallow area for them to 'swim' around in and slides to go down also!

Long time...

It's been over a week since I've blogged...sorry about that. I have a few pictures to share to hopefully make up for it. Last weekend we headed to Salem and had a great weekend. Ethan and I spent all day Friday and Monday there while Jared was there for the weekend. It is always nice to hang out with family.

I also did some 'garage-saling' for baby girl. We hit the jackpot! Saturday morning was pretty successful with my mom and on Sunday, Karen (Grandma Karen) came over with 5 totes full of girls clothes to go through. She knew someone who was trying to sell 3 girls worth of clothing. We spent almost 2 hours going through all the pink and, again, came out pretty successful. I didn't photograph our loot, but I will be sure to someday soon. In Jared's words, "I'm not worried about her freezing..."

Water Day!

Our church has an annual water day and Ethan was old enough this year to participate! He had a great time, not that I was worried. We were outside and there was water he was free to play, splash and jump in. A few of his favorite things! His friend from church and daycare, Noah, was there so they had a blast together.

They even had an ice sculpter make ice blocks with little bowls carved in it for the kids to sit on, splash in and cool off around. Pretty cool!
